Floating Desks

I have this odd shaped space in my house and I am trying to figure out what to do with it.  The odd space in my house is the space under the stairs.  Think of it as Harry Potter’s room under the stairs without the walls and door.  Can you visualize it?

My original plan was to put floating bookshelves, but my husband pooped all over that idea by calling it “tacky”.  I, on the other hand loved it and thought it was creative, but what do I know?!?  Damn my husband for having opinions!  If you didn’t notice I was being sarcastic with that comment.

With that idea being ixnayed, I had to think of  another way to use the small space.  My next thought was a floating desk!  I think I may have an obsession with floating furniture.  I love how when furniture is “floating” it looks like it is taking up less space and well, it’s just pretty cool looking.  Does anyone else feel like that or is it just me?  Just me, I’m sure.

My husband doesn’t know it yet, but I plan on DIYing a floating desk like the one from Design Sponge.  Stay tuned for updates and possibly pictures of my project if it all goes well.  Keep your fingers crossed for me!

BTW,  I really want a Louis Ghost Chair to go with my future floating desk so donations are now being accepted for the “Louis Ghost Chair” fund. 😉
